Donate the Weight!
Is your New Year's resolution to lose weight and get in shape? If so, join our Donate the Weight Campaign!
Everyone could use a little added motivation to lose weight. Wouldn't it be fun to know that your weight loss is not only improving your health and mobility and positively influencing your social and family life, but also helping those in need in your community? For every pound you lose between January 1 and June 30, 2014, you can pledge and amount to donate to The Lighthouse Foundation. Your donations will help us feed people in our community who can't afford to purchase food for their families. For example if you pledge $5 per pound, and you lose 15 pounds between now and June 30, you would donate $75 to The Lighthouse. To enter, email email@example.com with your name and amount pledged. What a fun way to get healthy and help your community!

Video - About the Lighthouse Foundation
Click here to watch a video introducing you to The Lighthouse Foundation.
The Lighthouse Foundation was founded in 1985 by a group of Bakerstown community residents in response to growing needs among local families and communities facing rising employment and emergency needs. The Lighthouse was originally housed at the former Richland Restaurant in Bakerstown, which was purchased by the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown to provide a home for The Lighthouse. Within a year, the Lighthouse became a freestanding nonprofit entity, and in 1991 moved its headquarters to Middlesex Township, Butler County, at the corner of Route 8 and Cruikshank Road, three miles north of the Allegheny County line.
Today, The Lighthouse:
- Maintains operations at five sites
- Annually serves more than 6,000 clients
- Fills identified gaps in basic human services
- Is the lone provider of housing to homeless young adults and families in its service region
- Operates through the private charitable and public support of more than 1,500 individuals, bodies of faith, agencies, foundations, business and service organizations
